Q. How should I interpret the message?
A. There are two numbers in the Shares and Market rows. The first number represents the no. of shares, or market position in USD value, that the ETF is currently holding. The second number in parenthesis represents the update/change in no. of shares, or market position in USD value, since the last update. For example, the message on the right represents that ARKQ bought 2013 more shares of TSLA, a total market value 4.6M USD, on 12/31. And ARKQ is currently a total 301374 shares of TSLA, a total mark-to-market value of 212M USD. |
Q. Why is there a BUY transaction with negative change in dollar value?
A. This happens when ARK ETF bought more shares of an equity during a price dip, so its total holding of such equity in dollar value may decrease while it bought more shares since the last update. In this example, ARKQ bought 4725 shares of JD.COM during a price dip, hence the mark-to-market value of its position in JD.COM decreased even thought it acquired more shares since the last update (likely vs 12/30/2020). Likewise, once may see a SELL transaction with increased mark-to-market value of its total position of an equity. |
